It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

plastic bags
Plastic bags are terrible for the environment, they release harmful toxic chemicals into the ground which we plant our crops in. It also affects animals that live in the ground. We can reduce the amount of chemicals being released into the ground by using reusable bags instead of plastic ones. When you go grocery shopping, bring a reusable bag that way you don't need to buy plastic bags which reduces the amount of people and animals being hurt.
I agree with the idea of using reusable bags instead of plastic bags. Plastic bags are terrible for the environment because of the harmful chemicals that are in it. Plastic bags are also bad for sea life. When people leave plastic bags on sidewalks or just throwing them out, a lot of times those plastic bags end up in the ocean. Sea animals like sea turtles and seals either get tangled in plastic bags or they accidentally eat them. This results to the sea animals dying. Overall, I believe that we should put a band on plastic bags and use reusable bags.
I agree with this idea as well. According to timeforchange.org, the carbon footprint of plastic is 6 kg or CO2 per kg of plastic. If you know the weight of you plastic bags, you can multiply it with the number of plastic bags you are using per year. Then you can easily calculate the carbon dioxide emitted by your own usage of plastic bags. They also state other ways that plastic bags increase CO2 emissions.
The production of 1 kg of polyethylene (PET or LDPE), requires the equivalent of 2 kg of oil for energy and raw material (see here). Polyethylene PE is the most commonly used plastic for plastic bags. Burning 1 kg of oil creates about 3 kg of carbon dioxide. In other words: Per kg of plastic, about 6 kg carbon dioxide is created during production and incineration.
I agree. In the United States plastic bags are such a common thing. Many people view them as a necessity, when in fact they are not. There are many better alternates to plastic bags such as reusable ones and containers. Currently, in the United states when shopping at a store they charge you ten cents for plastic grocery bags. I think this is a step in the right direction.
I agree. We should start using more reusable bags because it will help the environment in the long run. if we have less plastic waste in our streets and water it won't affect habitats for animals.
I agree with your idea. Plastic bags get thrown away and end up in oceans. The ocean life don't know any better and animals, like sea turtles, mistake them for jellyfish. They try to eat them and then they suffocate and die, but by using a reusable bag instead of buying a plastic bag every time you got to the store, you can stop this from happening so often. My family has started doing this and we've seen how cheap, efficient, and environmentally effective this is.
