It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Reduce & Reuse
One truckload of clothes is thrown away every second and 31% of food is wasted. Reducing what we buy and reusing the materials that we already have would do so much to benefit the environment. By reusing items and materials, money would be saved, fewer recourses would be thrown into the landfill, the environment would be healthier, and others could be inspired to start reusing as well. Overall, reducing the amount of goods that you buy and reusing the items that you already have, will better your surroundings and help keep less waste from being thrown into the landfill.
I agree with your statements. Also if you reuse fewer metals will have to be mined from the earth. We would have to mine less for materials and thus not affect the world as much as we currently are. It takes a lot of metal to make a car so when you are done with yours donate it instead of throwing it away. If you donate your car you can save lots of energy and metal used to make another one. Some organizations will fix up the car and then sell it to someone else, meaning it could help the less privileged because these cars would be cheaper than buying one brand new. Lastly, if you donate your clothes to a thrift shop where they are resold you are helping your community and the environment because not as much cotton or wool has to be processed in large factories. I agree with both of your ideas. It is easy to forget about what we are throwing away and the impact it has because the modern world has made this process so simple. Our materialistic society has helped people to buy new unnecessary things instead of reusing what we have. Also, many people do not properly compost or recycle items and instead put them in the landfills. The saying reuse, reduce, and recycle still rings true in many areas. Making some of these changes could greatly reduce the amount of trash thrown away and help our environment in the long run.
I agree with all of your thoughts. I think one major way we can reduce our carbon footprint is to take a close look at where are clothes come from. The majority of what we wear on our bodies comes from places very far away, and is usually not made in the U.S. In an article called entitled, "Where are our clothes made?" they say that, "Most of our clothes are made overseas in rural and poor areas as it’s much cheaper and more work gets done. The countries where most of our clothes are made, from the high street are made in are Bangladesh, India, China, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and the Philippines." This is very important because this produces a giant amount of carbon dioxide. The first step we can take is to try to buy clothes that are made locally. Even better, if we can reuse our clothing and wear hand me downs from family or friends this will help a lot. Also, a good alternative is buying clothes from thrift stores so we can reuse what others wear. Reusing other people's clothing will make a big difference on carbon dioxide emissions.
I agree with everything that you are saying. The fact that so much food and clothing is thrown away is crazy. We could reduce our carbon footprint if we start thinking about where our clothes are coming from. No one needs clothing that isn't made in the USA. Or from wherever they live. This just increases the CO2 that is emitted into the atmosphere from having it being brought to where they live by so many different types of transportation. If we stop caring about where our clothes come from we could reduce the amount of CO2 by a lot.
