It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
Everyone has heard the saying "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle", but what exactly do you need to do in order to complete this cycle? There are many ways that an individual can contribute to making our Earth a healthier place to live, and reducing the amount of trash you use is one place to start.
An easy way to reduce the amount of trash you produce is to bring your own coffee mug or cup to a coffee shop when buying a drink. Americans throw away 25 billion tons of Styrofoam coffee cups each year, and Styrofoam cups are horrible for the environment. Another easy way to do this is buying a reusable water bottle so that there are less plastic bottles being used once and then thrown away. One more easy way to reduce your amount of trash is by bringing reusable bags to the grocery store. This limits the amount of plastic and paper bags littered on the streets and in public areas. Recycling paper and plastic items is also very easy to do. Nowadays, many paper and plastic items are recyclable, and recycling bins are very common in cities. On the bottom of many paper and plastic items there is a symbol of arrows going in a circle and a number in the middle of that. You can use that to determine if that item can be recycled in your city. In conclusion, reducing and reusing day to day items is very simple, and everyone is able to do it.
I didn't know these facts about Styrofoam cups! Bringing your own coffee cup would definitely help reduce the amount of cups thrown away, and it is also an easy step to take. I would also agree that sorting your trash into the right containers is another easy step to take that would reduce your amount of trash by recycling and composting the waste that doesn't have to go in the trash. We should do a better job of educating people about different recycling symbols on trash to make them aware of what they are throwing away. Not only would there be less trash in the streets, there would also be less trash in the ocean and in natural environments that interferes with wildlife.
Styrofoam has such a big impact on the world. How can we as people of the earth stop the impact of styrofoam?
