It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Recycling and composting
Everyone should try their best to compost and recycle paper, cardboard, bottles, etc. By composting it will limit the amount of greenhouse gases that would normally go into the air when your foods as thrown away and instead you can compost. You can start your own garden with your compost to create fresh fruits and vegetables which also helps because you aren’t getting store bought produce which is brought to different places by trucks and other vehicles.
I completely agree with what you say. At home, try to set up a system where you recycle, dividing up glass, different plastics, tin, and paper. By doing this, you greatly decrease the amount of trash and garbage that goes to the dump, and at the same time, you are responsible for helping out the Earth, a little at a time. Also, by composting, there are tons of benefits, such as reducing the waste you produce, and using that compost to fertilize your garden. There are so many other alternatives to disposing of waste then just throwing it away, and by doing the things I stated above you can largely decrease your carbon footprint.
I agree with both of you, by simply sorting out our cardboard, plastics, and glass when can decrease our footprints by a lot and this simple thing will make a difference.
Another way that would expand on your ideas above would be to educate students at our schools about what we can and can not throw away. Signs above the garbage, recycle, and compost bins at schools with detailed pictures and lists or what can be throw into each bin is a great way to kick off the increase of recycling and composting more. With this change in our everyday lives, we are more likely to think about what we throw away before we do so.
