Reuse & Repurpose

It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Share your ideas for extending the “lives” of the items that we buy and use, and their packaging as well!

There are many ways to extend the usage of bags and other necessities that we use every day, reducing the usage of these pollutants. We can use reusable bags instead of plastic bags, which we throw away immediately once we unload what is within, or it just ends up on the streets. We need to care more about the world and when throwing away our lunches or anything else, we need to think which items go where. Whether it is compost, recycling, or garbage, these can impact our lives greatly but people don't understand how much impact it does in our daily lives.

I agree with everything said above, that people need to become better at learning how to reuse their respective things that they use daily, however I think the best way to do this is to inform the public that they can help greatly help the environment by doing only a few small things everyday. To inform the public, there could possibly be posters put up, or ads on tv or in the newspaper. I do believe that if the public becomes more aware of how easy it is to help the environment, they will follow suit.

Reusable bags and other common items are definitely the way to go. Since everything comes in packaging these days it is hard to keep track of and stay accountable for your trash production. However, little steps such as taking reusable bags to the store are both manageable and highly impactful. Approximately 1.8 billion bags are discarded in America every week. This affects our wildlife greatly as over 10% of the debris polluting our coastlines is plastic bags and over 1 million birds and 100,000 turtles die every year from plastic bag consumption. So by doing something as simple as bringing reusable bags wherever you buy things and making an effort to monitor the packaging in which your products come, you can make a big difference in a big problem. https://www.reusethisbag.com/articles/2 … -reusable/
