It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Buying the right products
All or most of us buy necessities like food, toiletries and other things for our homes. Most of these things come in plastic bags which we throw away. After all, once we dispose of these bags in our trash cans we tend to forget about it completely. In general, these bags go to the landfill where they are burned emitting mass amounts of CO2 a day. So what can we do to help reduce this CO2 source? It all starts with your week to week shopping. When shopping look for biodegradable/compostable and recyclable packaging. For example, if buying one-time use water bottles, try to look for ones that can be recycled like box water. Of course, we can't always find certain things in that kind of packaging. But if those manufacturers were to switch to this packaging, it would help the earth.
I strongly agree with what you're saying, Bella! Stores and companies should offer more of these biodegradable, compostable, and recyclable packaged items, and customers should also choose to buy them. With the plastic and metal that are generated, we can use this to help developing countries that are in need of raw material. Though the USA's former partner in these trades was China, there should be many other areas in the world that would benefit from the wasted material we throw away everyday.
I agree, If we use better products that will compose quickly and not harm our environment then we will reduce pollution of the air and the oceans. Also if you use things that other people may not be able to use then we could eliminate the amount of waste of things such as clothing, food, furniture, and other products.
One struggle in today's society is the lack of knowledge about how much harm we are placing on the environment and what we can do to help. I certainly did not even know that box water existed, let alone how much it can help lower the carbon concentration in the atmosphere. I agree with you when you say we should look for biodegradable and recyclable products in our grocery stores for little things like water bottles. Certainly we can not expect to find biodegradable packaging for every item in our shopping cart but it does not hurt to look. Great job!
It takes at least 450 years for plastic to decompose in landfills. When you think about how much plastic humans go through and throw away, it really makes you consider how much we are actually harming the environment.
However, more eco-friendly alternatives, such as Box Water, can often times be more expensive. Some people lead lives where they cannot afford to make the environmentally sound purchases. We should consider this before demanding everybody change their lifestyles.
