It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Sustainable fashion
As a society, I believe that we are highly focused on fashion and looks. While fashion is an admittedly fun thing to partake in. However, it is not sustainable to keep buying clothing just to keep up with the trends. Today's textile industry is a huge contributor to total carbon emissions. As written in 'Carbon footprint of the textile industry' by eco textiles (https://oecotextiles.wordpress.com/2009 … -industry/), the clothing and textile industry accounts for around one ton of the 19.8 tons of total carbon emissions. Keeping this in mind, if we buy our clothes sustainably we significantly reduce the carbon emissions put out by the fashion and textile industry. One way to sustainably get clothing is to buy from thrift stores. Buying from thrift stores provides both unique and sustainable food. I hope that this may inspire people to think about where their clothing comes from and how it affects the environment.
Yes, I agree with everything and would like to add that the fashion industry is the third most polluting industry in the world. The best option is to limit your consumption and start shopping second hand. Also, when talking about fashion (especially fast fashion brands like H&M and Zara) it is important to consider the ethical aspect, not only ecological. How were your clothes made? Who made your clothes? It is really eye-opening learning about these things and I encourage everyone to do their research and start shopping consciously ![]()
