Reuse & Repurpose

It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Share your ideas for extending the “lives” of the items that we buy and use, and their packaging as well!

The problematic side of reusing

cvictorianbod4

With using reusable bags I completely agree that they reduce pollution and save the lives of unsuspecting animals that consume the bags, but at what cost? The production of reusable objects is just as harmful as plastic bags themselves, and they are only effective when reused a certain amount of times. polypropylene bags are only effective when used 37 times, paper bags 43 times, and cotton bags 7,100 times.  My question to you all is, even though the production process of reusable bags releases more carbon into the air, and their purpose will only be served in special circumstances, are the bags still worth using, and why? Please keep in mind that the producers will not be concerned with the environment, but the revenue they will receive from these bags, and will not produce the bags in a sustainable matter, but will mass produce these bags and release an unhealthy amount of carbon into the air from their production alone. Also keep in mind that 40% of shoppers that use re-usable bags forget to bring their bags and up using plastic ones instead.
