Reuse & Repurpose

It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Share your ideas for extending the “lives” of the items that we buy and use, and their packaging as well!

Always repurpose

Almost everything can be reused, maybe not the actual product, but the container. instead of buying that cute silver cup for your toothbrush, try using an empty container and decorate it. think about something that you want to invest in and try to create it with things in your home and your surroundings. try to limit yourself from buying products that are an only one time use, try to find an alternative that is more environmentally friendly. i am always tempted to throw out things like a plastic container, glass jar, toilet paper rolls. but try to save them and customize it into something that you will use and that you were going to buy.

I agree with you, so many things can be reused and turned into something else that we don't have to buy. This way we can save money, prevent from putting more plastic in our environment, and by not buying another thing that was apart of releasing more Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere and using up a lot of water in the process of making it. I  liked your idea about before we buy something, see if you can recreate it yourself at home. I know that from past experience that this made me feel like I was making a change even though it was small and I also saved a lot of money that I would have wasted on something I did not need.

I agree with you 100%. Lately I have been doing more DIYs and I found them very interesting and hands on. Doing these DIYs have definitely helped my purchase be one of the lowest contributors to my carbon footprint. My purchases are only 354kgs of my carbon footprint. When you recycle containers, bottles, and boxes you are definitely  helping less factories produce more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Most importantly, you will feel good about your environmental effectiveness and your beautiful creations.

I agree. If we all reuse and recycle the world would be such a clean and healthy place. This would increase our plants and animals as well as ourselves. This would all be possible if we just reuse things. From as little as eating leftovers for a couple of days to using your sister's mattress instead of going out and buying one. These little things would help the environment in so many ways. It will also allow for more carbon dioxide to be in the atmosphere which will ultimately help us, and our personal carbon footprints.

I can mostly agree with you. I feel that most things can be recycled but not all. If you really think about it, people put recyclables in the bin with food still in the container. It is hard to recycle plastic when it has ketchup residue stuck onto it. It would take way too much manpower to remove everything. And it would be close to impossible to create a machine to clean it out.

Some places take donated plastics to use with kids to teach kids how to recycle

Here is a quote from ,https://www.diys.com/eco-friendly-projects/, that I can definitely agree with from my previous experience  with recycling. "Using supplies that you probably already have on hand, you can help transform your home into a “greener” space, reducing your carbon footprint as you DIY! "

I fully agree with this statement. Almost everything can be recycled and reused. One commonly used plastic item that many people do not think twice to toss into the trash is plastic water bottles. This is a link on how to reuse plastic water bottles in many different creative ways: https://www.budgetdumpster.com/blog/diy … recycling/
If we reuse something as little as a plastic water bottle, our negative impact on the world and its health can be improved and changed for the better. According to Care2 Healthy Living, reusing items can create less air pollution and water pollution rather than recycling. Though recycling is better than just throwing something in the trash, it is still being thrown out. If you reuse something, it will not negatively impact the world.
