It's very tempting to throw things away or even drop them in a recycling bin when we are done with them. Is there a better way?

Reusing Items
Reusing items is a very helpful thing. Not only does it limit the amount of trash produced by each person but it also helps with the amount of pollution that is released into the air in order to create each single-use item. For instance, some items that are already possible to buy in reusable form are water bottles, grocery bags, Tupperware/to go boxes, straws, utensils, etc. Buying these items ultimately will help the environment as well as save money for the consumer. Although it may cost more to buy these items, in the long run, if you compare the amount of money spent on single-use plastic bags to a single time purchase of a reusable bag, it is more sensible to spend money on reusable bags. It benefits both parties. The consumer spends less money and saves the Earth.
I agree with you that people should reuse more items. I think one thing that people should use the most is reusable water bottles. If more people used reusable water less plastic bottles would be made. Which would make our carbon footprint significantly less. According to The Arcadia Power Blog, "Since you, the average human, need to drink four plastic bottles per day, you would be saving 1,460 plastic bottles per year by using a reusable bottle. Even if you only purchased one plastic bottle per day, you’re still wasting over 300 nonreusable containers that could be spared with one reusable bottle." This quote shows the benefits of using reusable water bottles. If more people did this then there would be less plastic in the world and there would not be plastic islands in our ocean's.
