Off the Table?

Are there aspects of your daily life that you know contribute to your carbon footprint but you are unwilling to compromise to change them? In other words, what about your life is “off the table” when it comes to carbon emissions? It's OK to admit it- we all have these cherished behaviors!

Travel is off the table

Personally, I believe having the latest technology is a want. I think once you have a product like a phone or a computer or a tablet, you should use that device until it breaks or it no longer works. Get the most out of your money and you can help the earth as well.
But, the one thing I don't want to compromise about is traveling. Whether that be by bus, plane, or car, I have a passion for traveling and going to see the world. I do not want to limit my experience of the world because I need to lower my carbon footprint. I think an alternative is trying to take the most environmentally friendly way to a place whether that means walking to the grocery store or carpooling to school. It does not mean I won't go to a different country simply because I believe it will harm the earth though and I'm sorry that I can't compromise on that. Human's invented faster transportation to connect populations and people around the world. I intend to take full advantage of that even though it might hurt the earth.

Lindsay i completely agree with you yet have some points to add on to. I too will not limit my travel. It is a necessity that I attend my sports and travel to see my family. And while it may not benefit the world, there is no effective change I can make about it. My family also loves to travel much like you do, and it's not a crime to go explore the world. Yet since I have no changes I can effectively make about my long distance travel, I choose (as so should people like you and me) to cut back on the short distance travels. Any chance I get, I'm biking to my friends house, or walking down town, always cutting back on the smaller destinations where driving is not necessary. Although these simple acts seem minuet, in the big picture they are helping to save our planet.
