All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
THE BIG FACTOR
I believe one of the main factors that contributes to the CO2 blanket is coal factories, a typical coal factory releases 3.5 billion tons of CO2 per year.then times that by 7,000.The reason why people don't convert to wind power, solar power, or tilde power is because coal is cheap and they don't care about the earth.Coal companies are trying to send coal trains from Canada through Washington. Our Local tribes are protesting against this because of safety, and we don't want to export coal and pollution.
its good that your thinking of our safety!
@lliyreland : thank you for protesting! exporting carbon does not simply make it someone else's problem!
Have you noticed any differences in the environment around you as a direct result of the coal? I think another reason why people have not converted to wind or solar power yet is because of the expense. Similar to when computers came out, it was very expensive and only the rich used them. However, after 20 years or so, computers became reasonably cheap and many people have them. I feel the same goes for renewable sources of energy but it is unfortunate that these coal companies have such a large influence. I am also very glad to hear that you are standing up for yourself and not subjugating to the health detriments caused from air pollution and coal.
