All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
Saving the world's oceans
I believe that one of the major environmental problems that is relevant worldwide is the pollution of our waters! This is caused from a plethora of factors. Driving cars. Factories operating. littering. and so many more. This issue can be narrowed down to tiny factors such as plastic drinking straws. My teacher brought this to my attention the other day in class. The links below give you more information. Basically, plastic straws are being found on our beaches. They are being found in the bellies of sea creatures... dead and alive. If we stop using plastic straws to drink our beverages, we could facilitate healthier waters. The links explain that "skipping the straw" when you go to restaurants is one way to take a stand. If you feel that you must have a straw, then you can make an investment in paper straws that disintegrate. You could also purchase a portable straw that can be washed and reused.
Think of all the marine life that would be saved.
