All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
Simple Steps
Hi, my name is Da Hao and I'm a sophomore at Oakland High School. I honestly can't stand litter, and I'm that type of person who holds on to their trash until a trash can is nearby. I've noticed that there are some people who use the Earth as their trash can, and litter wherever they please. I think that a simple step to help reduce our own carbon footprints and to help the Earth as well is to just put trash where they belong. This goes for recyclable items as well. If there's a recycling bin right next to a trash can, there's no reason why you should put the recyclable item in the trash can. And if possible, you might even want to reuse the item instead of throwing it away. Of course, many people do this already, however, it isn't enough.
This is just a simple step towards a cleaner future that anyone can do, and if passed on and emphasized, it can play a big role on how our Earth will look.
