All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Technology is not being used correctly
Hello, my name is Charlie Nguyen and I am a senior at Oakland High School. Technology is being used to "benefit" our lives. But are they really benefiting us? In the United States, big corporations are using technology to pollute the air we breath, destroy habitats and contaminate our water just to make a quick buck. Although we have the technology to stop this pollution, big corporations are suppressing this technology so they can continue to make money. However, there are some companies out there that actually gained a voice in creating this form of technology, such as Tesla. If more companies were to follow in Tesla's footsteps, they could still make money without slowly killing the inhabitants of this planet. Corporations need to start concentrating more on making technology that will actually benefit us.
This is all very true. Technology is often used to make our lives easier, but what is the point if the companies and us, the buyers, are only making our situation worse. I do agree that many companies need to take a step away from the oil and fuel types of energy and look more towards electric power. Any electric device compared to a gas or fuel powered one will obviously be more "green," however, if they did convert every form of technology to electric, it would still be using up fossil fuels because fossil fuels create the energy that is electricity which powers those pieces of technology. Due to these beliefs of mine, I believe that converting all technology to some sort of electrical power source is a step in the right direction, but I will be fully satisfied when we use a substitute for fossil fuels to create electricity.
Tesla is a very good example of how companies that profit off of "green" products help the environment and it overall benefits the way a company is portrayed from an environmental standpoint. Many companies do not care for the planet becau se their greed blinds them of the problem they are causing. I understand that they need to provide for their family, but if a company is deforesting areas, they must have enough money to handle themselves, their families, and some less fortunate people. Finally, I do believe that following in the footsteps in a company of Tesla will promote more eco-friendly businesses and produce a healthier environment instead of what may come.
