Now It's Time for Action!

All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.

Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

What Energy Source is Best for our Cars

nickyb7

After reading much discussions about C02 emissions and how they are a leading factor to global warming, I became very curious about what is the best source of energy for cars so they can reduce the green house affect? A simple answer that I commonly got about what is actually the best energy source is electricity. However, I have been doing some research on the internet and have found out something about electricity. Electricity is mainly produced by burning fossil fuels like coal and natural gasses. I found out about this at http://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.cfm?id=427&t=3.

This makes me confused because I had always thought that electricity will help our future in saving from higher C02 pollution. I now wonder if others had already known about this because I didn't know until very recently. I had always thought that car companies like Tesla were saving the earth from the green house affect, but I guess not to as great as an extent as I had originally thought. So now this leaves me with a question, If electricity is not the answer than what other fuel can help save fr om pollution.

The next sort of fuel I thought of was solar. Although, due to some recent research I quickly turned this thought away. I found out that the technology was just too far away for cars to get there quick in time to rapidly stop pollution. I also found out that the cost of solar power is very far out of most peoples average budget. One other sort of fuel I thought of was nuclear power, but for the same reasons as solar power I turned that down to. This now makes me wonder is there really a very big fuel improvement that can be made to cars that can stop pollution quickly and further stop climate change.
