Now It's Time for Action!

All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.

Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

Lights and Shorter Showers

There are many things that we can do to change our amount of CO2 released without causing too much change in your life. Turning off your lights after you leave the room can decrease your carbon footprint, even if you don't have energy-saving lights. This can keep your electricity bill down as well.  I also would start turning off the computer screen when I'm not using it. According to http://www.lights4learning.org/students … aving-tips a screensaver that shows any image on the screen doesn't save any energy at all, and may actually use MORE energy.
After calculating my carbon footprint I learned that taking long showers increased my carbon footprint significantly. I usually take 7 minute showers, which actually is a lot. I would start by buying shampoo and conditioner that's combined into one bottle. This can dramatically decrease your shower time.
These actions don't take much, and they can really help decrease your carbon footprint.
