All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
Switch the Lights!
From my carbon footprint calculations, I have realized that I can help our environment and world through simple, yet effective actions. I am now more aware of what I am doing and using. I have been making sure to turn off the lights after I leave each room, even though I will be returning. According to http://www.thesimpledollar.com/how-much … lly-save/, electricity for light bulbs costs ten cents per kilowatt hour. Although you say that you are leaving your light on for just a few minutes, all of those few minutes will added up and a lot of energy (and money) will be saved. One way my family has attempted at solving this problem is by setting timers for some lights we use inside and outside of our house. In addition, my parents bought a motion-censored LED auto-sensor nightlights that we plug into our hallway outlets. They are very useful at night, so we do not have to worry or remember about switching on and off the lights!
