All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
Lack of support from the public
Most people's reactions when confronted about the state of the environment is that they wont be around when it gets bad enough for them to notice or care. Most people don't realize that people are already being greatly effected. Just look at the drought going on in California right now.http://www.neontommy.com/news/2014/02/t … st-problem. It's one of the most severe droughts on record and a huge reason for that is the using up of unrenewable natural resources. But the support from the public is shockingly low. In a recent poll of 1700 adults only seven percent of those Californians believed the drought to be an urgent problem and the government's top priority. So even if the public is educated on their carbon footprint and effect on the environment the problem is getting them to actually care about it enough to do something.
What is your carbon footprint? How high was yours compared to mine or your regions?
