All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
Saving Water and Energy
You can take action by cutting off water when you don't need it, shaving, brushing your teeth, etc., and by not turning A/C when you're not at home and unplugging things that aren't being used.
This is a very basic concept but one that everyone should follow. Basically if your not using something turn it off so it does not use energy. It makes me curious thinking about how many recourses we could save if everyone followed this rule. I personally am now going to start making sure that I do this so that I can lower my carbon footprint.
I've actually never thought of unplugging something after use. This is something that is very basic that almost nobody does. If everyone started doing this, we could save a lot of natural resources as a result. I am going to try to become more mindful of this so I can reduce my carbon footprint.
I usually unplug things all the time because I found out last year about the way it could save energy usage. Turning off water is very important I agree it is amazing and can save a lot of water. My home is currently participating in the ideas to save water.
Also you could turn off lights when you leave. We usually do those things, but I have never thought about turning off the A/C. I will start doing that!
I agree with you 100%. The cool thing about the A/C is that there any many ways offered to help out with that. You could buy a remote thermostat and control it from your phone and set it to have different programs or buy a programmable thermostat. Unplugging stuff when not in use is a common misconception. Just because it isn't on doesn't mean it isn't using power. Your phone might be done charging but it is still receiving power!
