All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

Carpool, Not Carbon!
Before I calculated my carbon footprint, I was not aware of the significant amount of resources we use that harm the environment. I also was not aware that we can have a huge impact on the environment, both good and bad. 3 days a week I go to my after school sport which is 13.5 miles away from where I live. There are also 5 other girls on my team who live near me that travel about the same amount of miles to get to our gym. Instead of everyone driving in 6 separate cars, we decided to carpool. Transportation is responsible for about one-third of the air pollutants that affect the ozone layer. Carpooling reduces greenhouse gas and improves our air quality. Carpooling also reduces all toxic particulates that affect the environment. The challenge I have faced with carpooling is the communication with everyone that involves knowing who is missing practice that day or who doesn't need to be picked up. Overtime, the communication problems can easily be fixed. Imagine if everyone carpooled. The toxic particulates in the air will reduce significantly. There are also many other be nefits from carpooling. For more information on the benefits of carpooling, you can go to https://www.ocfl.net/Portals/0/Library/ … nerAir.pdf
