All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

Lights Out- Alternative Lighting
After calculating my carbon footprint, my house section was the largest by far. I looked into why and found out that it was because my family used a ton of incandescent lights. After a little research, I found that incandescent lights are actually extremely inefficient. I started to think of alternatives to incandescent lights. LED lights are always a good option, but I wanted to try something else. For a week, I convinced my family to use beeswax candles instead of using the incandescent lights that was causing our carbon footprint to go through the roof. During the day we used natural light from the sun. At night is when we used the candles. I chose beeswax candles because normal scented candles can put carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, into the atmosphere. Normal candles also contain lead in the wicks. When this is burned it creates pollution that is harmful to the environment. This was the opposite of what I wanted, so I found the most Eco-friendly candles made. It was challenging to remember to light the candles and turn off the lights but in the long run, it was t otally worth it. My overall footprint decreased by 5460 kgs. This was a pretty big drop. Do you all have any other ideas or ways to reduce the carbon footprint when it comes to lighting?
By the way, this is not something I intend to continue. It was a fun test that showed how much you can decrease your footprint if you really make an effort.
