After calculating my carbon footprint, I found that there are many things I can change in my lifestyle to help save the environment. One of the most significant factors that I would be willing to change is my water use. If you did not already know, California is in a major drought. For the past year, my family and I have been trying to reduce our use of water but recently I have discovered many new helpful ways to save even more! Many people do not realize how much water a leaky faucet or shower can waste. But, if you put a bucket or cup under the leak, it will catch all of the water. There are many things you can do with this water including watering plants or washing dishes but a new thing I learned is that you can use it to flush your toilet. Many toilets have a function that alerts them to flush after the water in the bowl exceeds a certain amount. If you pour the leftover water from your leaky shower or faucet into your toilet, it will automatically flush and voila, you're saving water just like that! Other more well-known ways of saving water include taking shorter  showers or not watering your lawn. Overall, I have a lot of passion for this issue because it is so prominent in my community. I hope that my advice and personal experiences can help others save the environment as well!
