What We Can All Change
Even though cleaning our clothes is something we all feel necessary, there are many more energy efficient ways to complete this process. For example many of us use dryers to quickly dry our clothes. However, dryers use a lot of energy to heat up clothes to dry them. Hang drying our clothes might not be as fast as dryers but it does save a lot of energy and completes the same process. An added benefit of hanging clothes is elimnating the cost of a dryer which can add up to finances. As far as actually washing our clothes, rather than using warm or hot water to wash our clothes, cold water can accomplish the same result. By heating up water, an unnecessary amount of energy is being used. Lastly, washers use up a lot of water to completely clean our clothes. Since California is in a drought, clean star applicances are reccommended to save water as well as energy. We can all become more economically freindly by changing the way we clean our clothes.
