Now It's Time for Action!

All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.

Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

Now It's Time for Action >

Flight Risk

After looking at my carbon footprint report I was very surprised at how much flying contributes to my individual carbon footprint. When I compared my fuel footprint to my friends those who hadn't flown had dramatically lower total fuel consumption.  I think the only thing I can do to reduce this number is to simply not fly as much because driving is no longer more fuel efficient that flying places. (http://www.slate.com/articles/business/ … nment.html) The main challenge to this goal is that although I am definitely willing to fly less, most of the time I'm not in control of when/where I go flying. It is almost always on family vacations that I am more or less required to go on. However I think that realizing what is our biggest contributor to our carbon footprint will allow me (and the rest of us) to cut down on these actions when we are able to fully control them.
