Now It's Time for Action!

All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.

Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

Coffee Cups Filling Our Landfills

aubreycusa

Many coffee drinkers drink their coffee from disposable paper cups, not realizing the impact these cups have on the environment. You might think because they are paper that they can be recycled. But they can’t. Most paper coffee cups are coated in a plastic resin to make it more durable. This resin is what keeps these kind of cups from being recycled. I know I use disposable coffee cups all the time. Whether I am making my coffee at home or buying it at a coffee shop I use disposable paper cups. I am going to switch to using a reusable coffee cup. I think more people should do the same. Using a thermos or a mug will help keep from having so many disposable coffee cups in our landfills.  http://ourworld.unu.edu/en/storm-in-a-paper-cup
