Now It's Time for Action!

All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.

Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

How we can use less electricity ?

sarahrusa

I think it would be a great idea to use less energy. I personally have tried to do some of these things. To use less electricity, try turning off the lights before leaving a room or when you leave your house. Also, after you've finished charging your phone or any other electronic device, be sure to unplug the cord. That will add up over time. If it's not too expensive, try replacing some of the light bulbs in your more commonly used light fixtures with LED lights which will save energy as well. Hope this helps!

There are so many things that you can do to use less electricity. When washing clothes, wash in cold water and instead of a dryer, try hang drying. Even though LED and fluorescent lights are a bit more expensive they do a lot of good for the environment. These light bulbs use less energy but of course they all have theirs pros and cons. (More about fluorescent and LED light: go check out my post about them) Of course, recycle, reuse, and even repurpose whenever possible!

You may also want to try changing the temperature at which you heat and cool your home. You presented some great ideas that I think all of us should try to put into action!

Hi Nikki,
I was able to do a research report about global warming and creating electricity without the use of fossil fuels last year.  Creating electricity is a huge contributor to carbon emissions today, and as I read Al Gore's book An Inconvenient Truth, I began to realize the real effects that global warming can create.  Gore states how storms can get stronger, water levels can change, and unheard of natural disasters can become common.  In order to reduce the emissions from electricity production, it is important that we create a worldwide focus on wind and solar power as well as other renewable energy sources.  Smaller sources such as biofuel and wave power can often be overlooked, but they are often even more effective than wind or solar power, depending on the region.

That are awesome tips about using less energy.I´m going to try them all, and I will do a research to have more information about using less energy.

Lets look for some more tips about saving energy and talk about them later

Hi Nick thank you for being awesome and do a research
