All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

Long shower
Water is one of the most valuable resources in Earth, and sadly, us humans, do not give it that much of a good use. For example, when we shower, we waste an incredible amount of water and this will really affect us in the future. Taking shorter showers is something that all of us must do because wasting so much water is unacceptable. There are people who take up to 30 or even 40 minutes showering, and sadly, I am one of those people. I think that people who are like me, and take forever taking a shower, need to start taking shorter showers because otherwise, consequences will come to all of us in the future, and we will be one of the main contributors to all the conflicts that emerge involving water. We need to start acting now, I believe timing yourself could really come in handy; when you are done showering you can look at the time you took, and then challenge yourself t to beat that time next time you shower. If we start timing ourselves and challenging ourselves, we are eventually going to get from taking 30 minutes showers to taking 8 minute shower, or even shorter showers, which would really help us in the future. But we can wait no more, we must act now, otherwise we are going to pay for our actions in the future.
Hi !
Im totally agree with you, we should take shorter showers to spend less water and keep them for the future generations. We should think on the next generations, if know we have some resources now, I think that they should have them too. It our world, everyone is responable of it, so lets start doing a change.
Hi! I agree with both of your points; one, that shorter showers would be super helpful to the rest of society, and two, that our water use now definitely affects future generations. Here in California, water conservation is a must, especially in our severe drought. Along with climate change, our world is losing a lot of water rapidly, so it is super important that we lessen our impact in water consumption. Hopefully, we can reverse our negative impact as humans. Everything is connected - our carbon emissions are depleting the ozone, which makes our earth much hotter, so we keep losing water! This positive feedback loop is too detrimental for us to continue to live the ways we do, as a human society. I agree with you guys, it really is time to make a change in order to help us now and help our future generations.
Hello! I am in total agreement with you, we should take briefer showers and conserve as much water as we can, while we still can! We should constantly have the future generations in the back of our minds, thinking about their well beings, too! I think that we should start making changes regarding shorter showers now, not only to help ourselves, but to help the future generations.
I really like you point of view Ianna, Paulina, and Daniela because that is exactly what being sustainable means, taking care of our resources so future generations can take advantage of them too. An yes, our world is losing water at a really fast pace which is not good at all. If we keep wasting water in such a careless way like a lot of people do today, water, which is one of our most valuable resources, is eventually going to run out. We really need to start acting now, otherwise, we as a society and future generations, will suffer the consequences. Why should future generations suffer because of our fault? We must act now so we can have a brighter future.
¡Hi, here in Guatemala we can really show what you mean by future. The future you are all talking is already happening in countires near and farm from you. The only country that separates us in Mexico and they to are having problems. In Guatemals we have two types of people, the ones that don't have resources and take showers with the little rain water that has been raining, or from a near river. This may sound crazy or even funny but it is real. And we also have families, were the kids thake 15-30 minute showers and it is so true what you say, sbout Timming each person and putting a limit to this. Now a days sometimes water stops running at night for some hours or in the morning for some hours, b cause there isnt enought for all day. In other words that future you so talk is already present in many countries near you like for us in Guatemal.
Hi everyone, I like everyone's opinion, but I think that people already know about these problems, but they don't want to make a change because they are too lazy for making a change, we're living in a world which laziness is really big, and where people are just hoping for someone to make a change. I think we need to start saving water in all around the world because, otherwise live as we know it will be really hard for every single living being in this world.
Thank you for the feedback Dubon, I was not aware of this situation in Guatemala. This is exactly why we need to act now, we cannot wait anymore, if this is already going on in places like Guatemala, just think about it, how bad will it get in the future? We have to start being more sustainable and taking care of water, otherwise, other countries will find themselves in the situation that Guatemala is on right now.
I agree with you Oscar, laziness is one of the many reasons that causes this, it makes people not care about anything. It makes you wait until the problem gets solved on it´s own or by itself, but this is not one of those problems that comes and goes, once water is gone, it will be gone forever, unless scientists found a way of producing water, but even if they did, it would already be to late, they would take ages to do it. That is why we must start taking care of water.
