All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

i think we need to take less time for the shower!
i think that when you take a shower the dioxide carbon increases in our enviroment and in the same time we are wasting water. can you think in a solution?
Actually, I decided to take cold, five minute or less showers for a week! At the end of the week, I am going to go back and see how much my carbon footprint reduced. I was trying to think of a way I could be a little more green without having to spend money, and I thought it was a great, but very chilly, idea! I have only taken one cold shower so far and I must say it was a bit unbearable for the first minute or so. I mean I was only in there for about four minutes, but still. But I got through it alive! It really helped me lessen the time I was in the shower because all I was wanting to do was get out! It also helped me really appreciate how fortunate I am to be able to set a temperature when a lot of people in the world don't have a say in the temperature of their bath. Also, I found a website that talks about how taking cold showers even improves our health! I think everyone needs to read it - http://wakeup-world.com/2012/04/11/ten- … -cold-show ers/ So, if you want to have lower energy bills, be a healthier you, and help the environment all at the same time, why not give cold showers try?
I think cold showers are a great solution to both reducing your carbon footprint and saving water at the same time. Water conservation is an important topic to me because the California drought has really affected my community. My family has developed some ways to save water in the shower. While waiting for the shower to warm up, we collect the water in a bucket and use it to water our garden. Then during the shower, we turn off the water when we are not using it and only turn it back on when we need to use it. This has really helped us reduce water usage, and in the process reduce our carbon footprints.
Another way to reduce water usage and lower your carbon footprint is to install a low-flow showerhead. These can help to reduce water usage by one half or more. Conventional showerheads use more than 5 gallons per minute, but low-flow showerheads use less than 2.5 gallons per minute. Installing one can really help conserve water and reduce carbon in our environment.

Thanks for responding! I never though about the low-flow showerhead or collecting the water in a bucket to water the plants. You have some awesome ideas and I definitely am going put them to use! I understand what you're going through. We were in a pretty serious drought a few years ago, and we had to conserve water whenever we could.
yes im agree with you julianne but dont you but think that cold water can affect our health too?
