Now It's Time for Action!

All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.

Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

Turn it off

Leaving on the T.V and the lights in your house when they aren't needed hurts both the environment and your finances. Leaving on a single light bulb only costs a few cents an hour depending on the type of lights you have but that cost can really add up depending on how often and how many lights are left on. Same with leaving the T.V on at night, it can all really add up. On top of the financial concerns the environment is being hurt by it. By using unnecessary energy  there is an unnecessary amount of energy being generated by potentially harmful power plants like coal or nuclear plants. Just turn off things you aren't using and you can save both money and the world. I got a lot of my facts from this page, take a look if you're interested: http://www.theenergycollective.com/vbug … ts-cost-us

I completely agree. Not only does it help the environment but it takes little to no effort. It is one of the easiest things to do but people disregard it entirely. Leaving the TV on can also burn out your TV bulb quickly and most of the time the only way to fix that is to buy a new TV which can not only be expensive, but also time consuming. There are many benefits to turning your lights off. People could save a lot of money on light bulbs per year if they were to just turn them off when they are not in use. People need to understand how easy it is to make a positive impact on the climate by doing things as simple as turning lights and TVs off.
