Saving Water

Taking steps to conserve water is an important part of creating a greener lifestyle.

Here are some helpful ways that you can save water:

1. Make sure your faucets and toilets are properly working. Accidentally running water for many hours makes a bad impacts on our environment.

One time, my family had a broken sprinkler that was leaking, and we had no idea about it until my mom noticed a very expensive water bill.

2. Only use the water when you have to. When brushing your teeth, only turn on the water to rinse your toothbrush.

3. Try limiting your shower to under 5 minutes.

4. Put a milk jug filled with stones in your toilet tank to displace water. Saving a half-gallon or a gallon of water on each flush adds up quickly. Even better is to have a low-volume-flushing toilet installed.

5. Collect the water that runs while you are waiting for your shower to warm up and use it to water your lawn and flowerbeds. This requires more effort, but only a little bit.

Thanks for the tips.  Toilets are very important to check for practical uses too. My house flooded last year because of a toilet leak and it not only  wasted a ton of water, but it caused a bunch of damage to my house too.  I think that we should have appliances that involve water checked regularly.  Also, when doing garden work, try purchasing a hose that has controlable spraying settings to waste less water.
