All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

Changing the way that I throw away scraps of food
I have been throwing away the peelings of many vegetables or fruits. But putting these in the trash can really affect the amount of waste that we produce. Instead of throwing the peelings into the trash can, I have learned another way to throw away these scraps. That way is through composting. Composting is a really good way to "throw away" trash because it helps to enrich the soil, reduces the need for using synthetic fertilizers, reduces methane emissions from landfills and lowers my carbon footprint, and it encourages the production of beneficial bacteria and fungi that break down organic matter to create humus. (EPA) This will also reduce the waste amount that I produce. I will change the way that I "throw away" my peelings from foods by composting them instead. This method has great benefits for the soil and for the Earth, I will also introduce composting to my other friends so that they can change their ways of throwing peelings in the trash can and tell them about all the great benefits that it has for the Earth and the soil.
