All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.

Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

Diet Changes

Although I don't consume meat, I noticed that eating other animal products and some other foods shipped into the US raised my carbon emissions. I am willing to stop eating products that my body doesn't need from animals like cheese or ice cream. Personally, my body feels a lot cleaner and alive when I do not have dairy products. I will also be purchasing produce from my local farmer's market because it benefits the people that live in my area. Going to your local farmers market also reduces the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere because they don't need to ship the fruits and vegetables that use excessive fossil fuels to ship around the world.

I agree. I think that people should eat less meat and animal products, both for a lower carbon footprint and for health reasons. The farmer's market is a great option all around. What I've learned from shopping at the farmer's market is that when you eat the food from it, you reduce your carbon footprint, support locals, and end up with fresher produce, which is probably healthier in the long run.
