Washing Dishes
A lot of people (myself and my family included) have a bad habit of rinsing and/or hand-washing dishes before loading them into a dishwasher. According to http://www.care2.com/greenliving/energy … -tips.html this is an extremely wasteful practice. From now on I will scrape any excess food off of my plate rather than rinse or wash it off, and I will try to get my family members to do the same. I will also only run the dishwasher on a full load.
My family has the same bad habit. I totally agree with you though. We should all work on conserving water especially since we're all still in a drought. According to http://www.scientificamerican.com/artic … r-wasters/ we usually go through 20 gallons of water in one session of washing sessions. However using an electric dishwasher needs less than 10 gallons per load.
