All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
Make little changes
It's not always easy at our age to make huge changes to our lifestyle such as installing solar panels in our house or not eating meat, because at this point in our lives, our parents would be in control of doing things like installing solar panels or having a more fuel-efficient/electric car. That said, there's so much that everyone could do everyday to make a huge difference. The first thing we can do is think about something before you buy it. Do you really need it, or is it something you would be fine without? We should also think about what went into making the items we see on the shelves. Where does it come from? Overseas? Was it manufactured in a location that treats workers fairly and pays good wages? Was an ecosystem harmed in order to produce this item? Was it tested on animals? These are all some good questions you can ask before buying things from certain brands. You can do a little research too and discover brands that are committed to sustainability and responsible manufacturing. Look for certified fair-trade or cruelty free companies to start. Another reall y easy thing that can make a big difference is just turning off the lights when you leave a room or unplugging something when you're not using it. You can also reduce your energy consumption by not always using the AC or heater.
