All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
Making a Change for Mankind
Everyone tells themselves they will make a change but does it really happen? New years resolutions, new workouts, new diets. It's a hard habit to make. But little things that cause something greater than just us, than just ourselves as individuals is easy and very important. After looking at my carbon footprint it seemed very, very high. Especially in the transportation aspect. I take the bus to school, as most should to help save the CO2 and other pollution that cars make as individuals, but that doesn't mean I don't constantly take uber and have my parents drive me around and go on vacations which cause me to take longer car rides or airplanes. If it's close enough, walk. If someone else is going to the same place, ask if they want to carpool. It's an easy and smart way to help cut the pollution and CO2 levels. Water use is a big thing. For Californians, we are used to being in a drought and having a constant eye for saving water. If you visit California, you will see many signs and labels that remind you to use water as little as possible. Not everyone is in a drought though. For Californian's it is surely a good habit to watch for your water usage but for other countries that aren't used to this unfortunate situation, they sometimes overuse. For every country or state, there should still be just as many reminders to watch your water intake even if you aren't living in a drought.
