All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
Small, Simple Ways to Reduce Your Carbon Footprint
Often when people think of saving the environment, they think it requires a huge change to their lifestyle. However, the simple acts of turning off a light or unplugging electronics can have a significant impact on your carbon footprint. Here is a website that shows many small and simple ways to reduce your carbon footprint. I am going to start using these myself.

I agree that the small changes in our lives can end up having the biggest impact on our footprint. I have a computer that I use for school, and I am constantly charging it because I use it so often. I also charge my phone at every opportunity I get because I am using it all throughout my day. I have tried to reduce my energy use through electronics by turning off my computer and phone when I am not using them, but after reading http://www.clackamas.us/, I was reminded that even if electronics are turned off, they still consume energy when plugged in. In order for me to truly decrease my energy use, I should restrain from plugging in my devices at every chance I get. Thank you for reminding me that little changes like this in my life can also reduce my footprint!
I agree with you on this because change has to start somewhere and it can start with us. I also turn off the lights whenever they are not necessary and my family practices this act of saving energy in my house. I try my best at conserving water every time I go to the bathroom and I think the change is starting because many people are like this.
I agree with all of you. I believe that if everyone where to do these small changes, we could all produce a big change that has a impact in our environment. These changes do not have to take away ,many of the things you like. I believe there are solutions as simple as: having recycling bins, turning of the tv when no one is watching, and trying to do carpool with your friends as often as possible.
I agree with everyone who agrees with you because it is the simple, small changes that everyone can do to make the big changes in the world. We all have to work hand in hand and not be arrogant when thinking about the whole world as a community. Light by light and paper by paper, we can burn less fossil fuels and cut less trees than we have to. This can save the world from over-using all of our resources.
Simple changes are an effective way of creating a big change. This is because small actions amount to larger things. Doing something small in order to help our planet is better than not doing anything at all.
