All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

The MeltIng Ice Caps and the Destruction of Polar bears
Everyday the population of polar bears declines so much that by 2050 two thirds of polar bears will gone. This is mainly because of loss of ice. In 2011 the coldest point of winter showed that the ice was tied with it’s lowest point when they first started observing in 1979. A female polar bear had to swim for 9 whole days before reaching a solid ice flow. Costing her 20% of her body weight and her young cub. In 2004 biologists found four drowned polar bears and suspected the death toll was a lot higher. Another contributor is scarcity of food. The reduction in ice platforms near popular areas for the fish that the seals eat affects how many seals the polar bears can consume. Since polar bears are going hungry for a longer period of time same cannibalistic habits are beginning to develop especially on other bear’s cubs.
To help reduce the chances of the ice caps melting everyday people can make small changes in their everyday lives. To reduce your carbon footprint make simple changes for example bike or use public transit to work or school instead of driving. Using bio fuels instead of fossil fuels. Unplugging electronic devices when not in use and switching to LED lightbulbs. You can even reduce your footprint by not buying as much. There are so many ways to reduce your footprint and save the ice caps from melting at the same time and so many more reasons to do so.
