Now It's Time for Action!

All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.

Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

Sea Creatures are dying

kenadaisyyyy

There must be something that gets done to help save the living creatures in on earth! Sea creatures are dying daily because of our mistakes. Statistics show that just americans alone discard 250 million tons of lethal dangers into the oceans. Has anyone heard of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch floating around in the ocean? If not, you should learn about it. Here is a site that can give you info on this very important topic. http://www.humanesociety.org/news/magaz … oogle.com/
I will provide quick summary of the Great Garbage patch. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a huge conglomeration of plastic and other non-biodegradable flotsam swirling off the California coast, is estimated at anywhere from twice as big as Texas to larger than the U.S.

Kennedy, I completely agree with you. Climate change has affected Earth’s marine life. The ocean temperatures rise which does not help the marine life. Climate change makes other species in the ocean have to find other places to live or even die. Rising sea levels can cause sunlight to not reach the plants under water which depend of photosynthesis for their survival.
Acidic Oceans is a big part from the climate change that is affecting the marine life. The ocean absorbs dioxide that is released from our daily activities. It affects the fish and all other living animals in the water to breath. Coral Reefs even can start to dissolve. Even shellfish, lobster, and other sea creatures with shells will end up having their own shells dissolved.
Climate Change also affects the world's ocean because of the weather! Heavy rainfall and every stormy weather can affect the coral reefs. Hurricanes can end up tearing up the coral reefs where the fish and other sea creatures might be forced to leave and can affect their lifestyle for awhile and maybe until they die because they don ’t have a reef to protect them from predators. Scientists say that global warming can bring forth a “New Era” of extreme weather.
