All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
Global Warming is Getting Worse and we Need to Stop it
Climate change is already a considerable problem, but modern technology may be making it worse. Even attempts to help the planet may be doing the opposite! Although big projects are doing little to prevent global warming, everyone can contribute by reducing carbon emissions in small ways.
Plants that people are growing could be saturated with carbon by as soon as the end of the century. Plants are currently helping slow down global warming by making oxygen from carbon dioxide. What would happen if they stopped doing so? This is only a small part of the issue. Scientists have also attempted to artificially cool the planet, but their efforts may have been making the problem worse. Areas near the tropics could see a big decrease in rainfall because of this. On another hand, the continuation of burning fossil fuels may eventually make parts of earth uninhabitable!
In conclusion, we need to do whatever we can to try and prevent global warming, even if large plans haven’t been incredibly successful. Each individual may not be able to do much, but together we can sl ow climate change by doing activities such as recycling, walking, composting, carpooling, turning off lights, and so much more! We can’t rely on the rest of the planet to slow climate change, and we need to take action in whatever ways we can, as futile as they may sometimes seem.
