All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.

Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

Little Changes Can Make a Big Difference

melissaluc

I'll be the first to admit that there are definitely some things I do on an everyday basis that are not great for the environment and that my carbon footprint is a little bit above average. However, there a little lifestyle changes I can make that can make a difference in the environment and my carbon footprint. First is making a change in my own household. In my house we have a lot of chargers plugged into the outlets even when they are not in use, and I also charge a lot of my electronics overnight, which isn't needed. We also have a lot of incandescent light bulbs in my house when we could have more environmentally friendly, and we often leave them on when they are not in the room.  Another way I could make a change at home is trying to compost all of our food waste and making sure to buy only the amount of food we need to reduce our food waste. For transportation, I could try walking or riding my bike to places that aren't too far from my house. Although I hav e not had my license long enough to carpool people yet, once I am able to I will start driving people to school and practice.
