France's wild hamsters being turned into 'crazed cannibals'.

Estela

Hello, my name is Estela and I'm from Spain. I've read an article from the British newspaper called The Guardian that have interested me a lot. It explains that France's hamsters are being turned into cannibals because of the monoculture that is done in this area. Now, hamsters have a monotonous diet of corn that is starving them because they actually are nourished by a variety of grains, roots and insects. In addition, the impact of pesticides and mechanised ploughing destroy their underground homes. All that makes that females hamsters eat their pups, and that's really disturbing.
This is an example of the consequences that our habits have on other species. We don't think about the damage we cause to them, and the world belongs to them too.
