Now It's Time for Action!

All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.

Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

What I can do to reduce my carbon footprint

When I calculated my carbon footprint I realized that transportation causes a lot of pollution in the atmosphere, especially airplane rides. Airplanes are not something that can be reduced in the world, but maybe if there was an electric plane or another green alternative gas, they could cause less harm to the environment. My second highest aspect of my footprint was my home appliances. I realized that I take really long showers and that shortening them by a few minutes can help lead to making a difference.

There are many ways that we could reduce our carbon footprint without it causing a serious impact on our lives. We could instead of driving with your parents everyday to school you might have a close friend or class mate car pool. I am not saying everyday you need to do this but maybe 3 out of the 5 days of school would impact and reduce your carbon footprint. When your at home shutting off your lights when nobody is in the room would reduce your carbon footprint same thing with the shower. I have a tendency to eat more meat that I should in a week so to reduce my carbon footprint I am not just going to stop but I am going to limit my self throughout the week for how much meat I can put into my body. Reducing your carbon footprint is easy its just you have to be willing to but in the time and effort.

I agree anyone can reduce their carbon footprint as long as they are willing to try. A lot of people often forget about the environment and can forget to do trivial tasks such as turning off the lights when no one is home. If we all make changes, even if they are small,  it can make a big difference in our environment.
