All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
Time to Act
Although I don't use that much carbon inside my house, I would like to improve my carbon usage while traveling. Currently I use up a lot of carbon driving to places like school, soccer practice, and hanging out with friends. I would like to reduce the amount of distance I travel and improve the ways in which I travel. I am going to bus to school every day that it is possible and bike/walk whenever I can when I want to see a nearby friend. As a whole, my family can decide to take less vacations on a plane. Normally we take about two a year. Maybe my family can decide to take only one a year or one every other year. Although it would be challenging, I feel like it would have a huge impact on our carbon output. I think that if people take action and burn less fossil fuels when we travel, we would see results. This includes carpooling, biking/walking, and flying on planes less.
