Now It's Time for Action!

All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.

Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

A Reachable Goal For Global Warming

drishtipLLHS

Global warming is the source of many problems around the world. The rapid melting of glaciers, wildfires, acidic oceans, etc. Believe it or not, some of these problems are connected. For example, the glaciers are melting because the soot from the wildfires is carried over to the ice. The ice’s reflectivity averts any heat coming towards it, but the soot keeps that from happening. The soot darkens the color of the snow and the darker it is, the more heat it will absorb. More heat results in melting glaciers. Because these problems are a chain reaction, solving one of them may help in resolving the other problem. For example, stopping the wildfires will slow down the melting of the glaciers. This may be one of the many solutions to end global warming.
This is something that is doable and a reachable goal. We can stop or reduce the amount of wildfires occurring near the glaciers so that the amount of heat and soot they emit into the air is substantially less. Putting out wildfires quickly before much damage is done and being careful around areas where fires can start easil y may slow down the melting of the glaciers. This small step can lead to bigger and better things for the end of global warming.
