Now It's Time for Action!

All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.

Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

It's Time to Speak Up

We need to get political leaders to act. One of the main issues about global warming is that many political leaders benefit from fossil fuel companies, gaining huge amounts of money from companies who fund their campaigns. It’s much harder to compete in an election against a rich, well-funded politician who assures everyone, “Global warming is fake, you don’t have to do anything about it, it’s all going to be okay.” It’s much easier for people - and politicians - to believe that than it is for them to face the truth and do something about it. People want to believe that we have the issue under control, so that they don’t have to alter their lifestyle.
However, I believe that can be changed if politicians would just wake up. We need to speak up and take action not only in our own homes, but in the nation and convince people in power that something has to be done. Big oil companies and other fossil fuel industries need to be limited, because right now, they are controlling the economy and the government. They disregard and attack scientists like the Intergovernmental P anel on Climate Change, a small organization that has been trying to convince the government of climate change for years. We need to make politicians realize that there won’t be a use for money hen global catastrophes start to happen. The effects of climate change can already be seen in the recent U.S. hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Jose, three major storms in a matter of months. We have to do something.
We have to speak up.
