All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
Permanent Damage already being done.
As we have learned from surveying ourselves on our Carbon Footprints we know that our footprint level can add up very quickly which in all contributes a negative impact on the planet. Climate change is the most obvious negative impact of us as a civilization having a very high Carbon Footprint. As most of us know the Earth's average temperature has been rising due to climate change and suffering some possibly permanent damage. In a KQED article (a North California public media network) there were eight multimedia resources that gave easy explanations in order to inform people more about climate change. One of these articles by the name of Carbon Story taught me some very crucial information.
The article explained how if action to prevent climate change was taken now it would be possible to lower CO2 emissions by 50% by the year 2050, sounds good right? Well reading further I was informed that even is action was taken right now, there would still be permanent damage done to the oceans, glaciers and on ground. This is why we need to start paying more attention to our Carbon Footprint, the damage had already been done and from here on out it will keep getting worse and worse unless we take action.
