All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
What Am I Going to Do?
I need to do many things to help my emissions and help the planet have the right amount of CO2. As we know, right now there is more CO2 in the atmosphere than we want, and we need to lower that. I can start by bicycling more, but especially walking more, which will lower the amount of CO2 I use for transportation. I researched the average amount of CO2 a vehicle emits every year and the EPA.gov website said that we use about 4.6 metric tons which is a lot. This is for only one person. Besides that, I can start to take shorter showers, and I can plant more trees in my backyard. Trees are very good for the environment. They soak up unnecessary CO2 in the atmosphere, which is very beneficial for the environment, which is why we need more trees and plants. The other day I was in the car, and we saw a car and my dad pointed out that it only had 8 miles to a gallon! This is very low. What other people besides me can do is that we can get cars that are more environmental ly friendly. I know that there is a lot of work still to be done, but every day, even little things count. If we all put in our effort, we can make a change and we will make a change for the better.
