Now It's Time for Action!

All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.

Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?

Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!

Taking it slow

I think small things like eating vegetarian or vegan a few meals a week could make a massive impact. Just knowing how much water, feed and space cattle take up makes me sick. Knowing that the grain we use for cattle could feed the people are starving on this Earth.

I agree completely. Agriculture has a huge impact on the environment. However, if people aren't ready to go vegan I think one choice people could make would be avoiding products with palm oil in them. Palm oil is a problem because forests are burned down everyday in order to make space for land used to plant oil palms.

I think both of you are absolutely correct, and making small changes can make a positive impact in the long run. If we all chose to eat and couple vegetarian/vegan meals per week and do our best to avoid products with palm oil in them, then eventually the positive impact will start to grow bigger and bigger. I also believe that if we tried to buy food more locally and cut down our use of single use plastics, than we can change the world!
