All of you have calculated your emissions and you have surely discovered the unexpectedly high impact of some of your behaviors (eating meat, flying to a sunny destination, etc.) on your total footprints.
Are there any behaviors that you are really willing to change or to improve for the sake of the environment? What challenges do you encounter or think you will encounter while trying to change these things? What help, support, and insights from others would make your life easier with these new behaviors?
Let's discuss these issues and make our pledges here!
Now It's Time for Action >
Conserving Energy and Recourses!
I think that one of the best ways that we can moniter our footprints is by conserving energy. An example of this would be turning of the lights after leaving a room and making sure the dish washer is completely full before running it. Even though they may seem small, these actions are what could help lead and help motivate others to following in your footsteps. Conserving energy is a great way to decrease your foot print and change the world for the better. Conserving daily recources is also very important for keeping the environment clean. An example of this would be turning of the water faucet when it is not in use or taking shorter showers in order to save water. Conserving recourses is important becuase with our growing population, materials and recourses are very important to have in order to plan for a future. Conserving energy and recourses is one of the best ways that we can start to help our environment and move towards a sustainable future.
I agree with you Lola. If everyone does those small tasks that you said, such as turning off the lights when you're not in the room, it could make a greater impact. I think that we should not waste resources. In America, we live in a consumerist culture that can lead to unneeded waste. If we all only use resources that we need, then it will drastically reduce waste.
